Take a look at our own Tom Drake's ride.
http://www.drakecoatings.com/DCI%20Racing.htm

There have been three slant powered doorslamers, to turn in the nine's in the quarter.
Tom Drakes Simca
Charles Myers Arrow
Cox Brothers 66 Dart

There are others not far behind in the low to mid tens.

My slanter stroked and poked to a 234 CID pulled 308 HP on the dyno with a 500 CFM AFB, 316 HP with fuel injection. No bottle and no blow.
Best time in the 1/4 13.62 @ 97mph 2900+ lbs in a 67 Dart.

My Slant :
238cid, 3.5" pistons, Rollmaster timing chain, Ford 302W inlet and exhaust valves with heavy duty springs etc., head ported, block decked, crankshaft ground, 350 Holley, Genie headers, cam specs .295"(cam lift)@ 280deg Exh .295"(cam lift)@ 270deg. I think .295" cam lift equates to about .445" valve lift.

Best 1/4 mile 16.3 @ 84mph, with a bit of wheel spin on launch and taking it to 5000rpm in 1st and 2nd. Using one of those online HP calculators this engine is making around 140hp at the wheels. This is with a 350 Holley. With a 4BBL carb soon to come it should go into the 15's. The engine should be making around 155/160 at the wheels................I hope.

Thanks Charrlie_S. The first time I played that video, it crashed my computer! Speed envy on the part of my iMac, probably. The sound alone was enough to get me on my feet. Mean looking car, too.

I'm not trying to take anything away from either car. Even though the Drake car is Quicker/faster then Tilleys, they are intended for totally different purposes. The Drake car is a "race" car, running alcohal. Tilley's car is a daily driver on gasoline.
