Read the articles that Slant Valiant gave you the link to. Almost every single, basic mod is discussed. Alot of it is old (/6 racing guide) but timeless.
Find the Erson Cam group buy thread and read up on what everyone is running for camshafts with their combination.
From what I have gathered, head work is crucial to boosting power.
Read up for a couple weeks, I still find good info from years ago buried in this forum. The Search feature makes life so easy. Just type in camshaft once and read for a week.

Now, you're talking!
Read up on the SUPER SIX and DUTRA DUALS for basic performance upgrades. The Dutra setup fixes the stock exhaust manifold bottleneck.
You can certainly give your six a dual exhaust all the way back, but be warned: The sound from an inline six with duals isn't for everyone. Several members use the Dutra manifolds with a "Y" going to a single tailpipe.
Please don't forget the tires, brakes, and suspension. Safety and performance upgrades overlap quite a bit in those areas.

A Slant responds to the exact same things as a V-8. You just have to remember that you are dealing with a little motor and use moderation in your additions.

Right now I am running a completely box stock '80 Volare longblock with an Offy intake, 390 Holley and Dutra Duals. The car also has a 3000+ stall converter and 3.91 gears. It would behave remarkably well on the street, and probably get decent mileage.

If you want to spend your money wisely, put a good converter and gear in the car, and then worry about the motor.

As far as the motor, spend the money for a good head first, then watch the for sale section for an intake, carb, headers, and a decent cam.

I personally don't care for the Super Six swap. Too much work for too little gain. I'd do an Offy and 390 Holley and be done with it. The gain over the SS setup is unbelievable.

Bit far, for just a visit. But if you're going to be up in the Ocala area give me shout. Don't forget the Don Garlits Mopar show, at the beginning of November, and the Turkey Run, Thanksgiving weekend.

East doesnt meet west in St Louis!.....anything East of Las Vegas is East....

Rule of thumb......if the river flows into the Pacific Ocean its West......Arctic Ocean =North

If it flows into the Atlantic its East! (note : the Mississippi flows into the Atlantic Ocean at New Orleans)

Time to come West Ron.....and not just as far as Indy.

West looks like this:Image
