Pump it twice and mine starts with about a 1/2 a turn on the crank with quite a bang. Kind a gets your attention......... The extra compression is nice to have on those cold mornings.

Thank you

3 questions

1.) Long or short Headers? - I am looking to improve my torque curve

2.) Do you use 2 1/4 all the way to the back?

3.) Do you use a Crossover?

oh yes remember i cant count :D

4.) What carb setup are you using?

Regards

Fanie

At this time, myself, I run 2 1/4 for the first three feet and 2 1/2 all the way back and it isn't to loud at 70-75 mph. I run a magnaflow muffler and I'm preatty happy. I have a super six and an open air cleaner.

Long headers create the most torque. Short primaries do not do much for torque.

If you collect them run a single 2.25 all the way back for the most torque. Try to run the "Y" at least 4' to 6' back. That will help provide more torque.

If you run duals, use an "X" pipe crossover, it helps create more torque verses the "H" type. You could run 2.5 or 2.25 off the collectors to the crossover then 2" behind the mufflers. Most modern performance cars use this type of set up. My daughter's Audi A6 is configured this way. It is has an amazing amount of power for a 6.

Does the reduction from 2 1/4" to 1 7/8" at the tailpipe affect mileage at all? I'll deal with the noise if it does.

Also, whats a good quiet/normal sounding muffler for these things? I'm not looking to impress anyone but I'd like a quality/non glasspack sound out of it.

Walker makes a good quality quiet muffler. They are very close to stock.

I went with 2 1/4 all the way back to improve mid to top end power. Basically the time it takes to get from 40 to 60 on a on ramp can be felt with the larger pipe all the way back. With the smaller pipe, it will do it but not as quickly.
