I didn't have a thread of my own regarding the kickdown for my Holley 390+Offy setup, so I'll just add my 2c with the Bouchillon kit right here. Like has already been mentioned, it's neat, simple, pretty, goes in in 45 min (my header added about 15min haha), and quite expensive compared to any of the homebrew options. It was a great choice for me because I'd rather spend my limited time messing with the carb tuning right now than preventing my 904 from burning up.

So I went ahead with the Bouchillon kickdown for my Holley 2280, because I've got money to burn. :roll: I read the instructions carefully (messy and confusing though they may be), went to mount it up the other day and quickly ran in to a problem. The Bouchillon bracket won't sit cleanly on the OE accelerator cable mounting bracket (see here and here). But even if it did, where would I then be mounting the accelerator cable???

wjajr, it says that part is designed for 4 bbl setups.

You may need one of these Accelerator Mounting Brackets to complete conversion. Also one of the studs holding carburetor may have to be longer to receive the bracket and have enough thread to run a nut onto it.

SSDan said the kit is mostly factory parts, and it is.

I’m sure others here have used this cable on the same carb you are attempting to adapt to, perhaps they can post a photo of their set-up.

All I did was take a few simple measurements from the wrecking yard cadaver. Length from the adjustible cable housing mounting bracket to the cable end atached to the throttle body, 4 inches. Length from the throttle shaft to the cable end, 1 inch. Or the large hole on the bottom of a holley 600 double pumper. I welded up a bracket for the throttle cable and tv cable using the wrecking yard parts and bolted it to the carb. The best adjustment I found was to pull all the slack out of the cable with the adjuster, then open the throttle wide open allowing the cable to pull the adjuster till it stops. you may have to flirt with it, in and out to get the shift points where you want them but it was spot on for me. Shifts at 5600 at wot. All of the parts were taken from the same 95 dodge dakota.

IMO, Cable is the only way to go - and lokar makes the best. Smooth operation. No routing problems that linkage can cause, especially if you are running headers or other no-factory stuff. Infinitely adjustable. Here is the Lokar set up on my street rod ( 727). Steel jacketed cable in the pic attaches to the trans throttle lever. Only thing you have to duplicate from the linkage set up is the distance from the carb throttle shaft to the cable attachment point.
