Thanks for all the good responses. I really appreciate the time you took to clarify a confusing situation. Seems like there is always an expert or two to answer the technical questions asked on this forum.

Now if someone could just explain why a field-loads relay is used on B and C bodies and not the A bodies. I'm kidding, guys!

If there is someone that could draw out a diagram of all this, I would buy them a beer! I am swapping to e,ignition myself and have already bought the dual ballast resistor and twin field alt. The ign. I am going to use is from a 74 scamp. I cant make sense out of the above conversation!:)

Someone has already noted there is an error in the second and third diagrams at <A HREF="http://www.valiant.org/electrical-diagr ... ms.html</A> . In both diagrams, the blue wire from the alternator field should go to the I terminal on the voltage regulator, not the mounting hole.

(I've sent corrected drawings to Dr Dave, but he hasn't had time to post them yet.)

On diagram three, the numbeer three pin on the ignition module isn't shown because it isn't used. This is also indicated at <A HREF="http://www.slantsix.org/articles/elect_ ... ing.htm</A> . If you are using a dual ballast resister, Connect pin three to the "extra" connection on the dual resistor.

If you can use AutoCad drawings, let me know and I'll send one.

I prefer New Taiwan Beer, but will settle for Michelob.
