I need to get more tire under my 62 Lancer "frog car"... it's is right at the point where it sometimes hooks, sometimes not. I have "beat-out" the rear fender wells as far as possible so it's time to relocate the rear springs and tub the car. It will get a new fuel system as part of the project, the car really needs a decent tank or fuel cell. DD |

Doug, Have you tried real slicks instead of the BFG drag radials? |
Author: | Doc [ Mon Dec 01, 2008 4:17 pm ] |
Post subject: | |
No, all the slicks I have will not fit under the car , even the set of 27 x 9s I have. I could spend some $$ on a real narrow set of slicks or spend the time to move the springs inboard so I can get a lot more tire under the car. These early cars do not have much rear wheel well room to begain with so that is why I am leaning towards the spring move & tub solution. DD |

It won't be in the 13s or 14s, but this winter I plan on rebuilding the carburetor, adjusting the valves, and installing headers on my 63 Dart. Not much, but it needs it. I plan on making it to at least one Redding race and one Samoa race, and if it happens, Slant 6 races at Sacramento and Infineon. Of course I will be racing at Mopars North of the Gate at Infineon, and Mopar Musclecar Magic at Sacramento. I am also going to enter it into Mopars in the Park in Rancho Cordova as well, which is a car show. So guaranteed 2 races and 1 show, but hopefully I'll be able to make it to Redding and Samoa at least once. |

I need to change the A/C pulley on my wife's Suburban. The AutoZone box arrived today. And I REALLY need to wash my SRT-4! ![]() As far as Slant 6 stuff,... daydreaming is about all I can afford right now. I'll start bugging Joel again in about 6 months about the Turismo project. I'll be at the "1 year left" mark then. Frank and Cinda are gonna have their hands more than full for the foreseeable future, so I don't see the engine/tranny getting swapped into the white Duster anytime soon. How's about this, "16- Rob- Gearing Up for 2010" ![]() |

Quote: I am installing a fuel cell and lines in my 66 Valiant. Also will be totally redoing the ignition and fuel system wiring. Hope to get rid of my annoyning misfire, and get it into the 12's. Will also need new slicks. Hey, you forgot to add me to the list.
Will also be working on my 65 Valiant, 170 turbo car. Maybe have it running, again, in 2009. |

Hi Doug: No need to tub on the early 62's...lots of room in the wheel opening for a much taller tire but the problem is "side ways". We just moved the springs inward a little and now there is all kind of room for at least a 9-10" wide tire without tubbing. Have fun over the winter..later, Wayne |

Hi CJ...Let's not forget Tristan new speed additions coming in 2009 and also Fopars' son Mikes slant6 project..Yes, we are finally getting him outof his pickup and joining us with a slant6 car...Any updates Richard/Mike? Who is ending up with that motor out of the "infamous" Ford? That is one bad ass** motor and in a much lighter car, watch out for a 13 second car... |

I doubt Richard is going to pull the slant out of his daily driver... He's had a slant in there for over 20 years... ![]() I'd be willing to bet he's going to use the old 1bbl motor he picked up off craigslist for his Dart GT. I think it came out of a pickup or something. Hopefully he'll wash it before he sticks it in there. CJ |
