Glad to hear it! You can leave the ballast resistor in there, and that will depend on the coil you are using as to whether it requires a ballast. Just make sure the hot (red) wire for the pertronix goes to a true 12V switched source, and not the downstream end of the ballast.

I goofed this once and it kinda ran, but backfired and stalled.

As Lou pointed out you can buy a 3 ohm coil from them. I did and tossed the ballast resistor. They have a couple of different 3 ohm coils. I am using the HEI version. If you would like to see some pictures of the change, click on the red link below my name.

thanks to everyone for the advice. car starts and runs great. the pertronix ignition system and flame thrower 2 coil are in and its such an a amazing difference with that valve job.
