i just picked up a virgin engine, complete, for 100 bucks, i just tore it down, its still std/std/std on everything, its the correct era block, i almost feel bad cutting it to .060, but it needs to be done.

the one thing i forgot to do, is check the deck height on front of block, to rear. to see if there was any slant in the deck.. ohwell, highly doubt it, and if any, prob not worth getting done. if the deck is flat anyway.

how often do blocks need to be decked?, whats the average cost of bore/hone from std to 60., any other things should be looked into or ask builder to check out. if im doing this twice, might aswell put twice the effort into making sure everything is as good as can be.

again, this is for a stock motor. nothing fancy other then a slightly different cam, and a hardened oil pump gear

If it were me, I would bore it 0.030 that way you could re-bore bigger on the next re-build.

You can certainly rebore for 0.100" later, so don't worry about going 0.060".
