R.e. your comment on my crude-but-effective T-bar tool: large striking surface was by design as on your back under the car makes for an awkward hammer swing (especially if a hand sledge is used as in PIC), so a large, solid target helps. That would be the main problem I'd have using a cable clamp: an old goat like me would would probably miss the durned thing completely with the hammer!

I first tried using store-bought "L" brackets and u-bolts but they bent like pretzels w/o breaking the T-bars loose. So I fabbed this thing together out of much thicker stock with the gusset thrown in for overkill. Also cut and drilled new little cross pieces / clamping plates (what ARE those things called?) for the u-bolts out of thicker stock as the store-bought ones were too thin and maleable and bent as well.

Homemade torsion bar puller (mounted snugly on breaker bar masquerading as a T-bar...rubber handle would be control arm end of T-bar...hammer head is addressing face of puller which is struck to break T-bar loose). Don't forget to take all weight off front suspension, remove T-bar C-clips and unload T-bar anchor bolts in lower control arms before swinging the hammer!

I don't stop here often, but in reading your post, you can't use the 73-76 upper control arm with small bolt 10" drums or with small bolt discs. The ball joint won't fit the spindle.

Matt ended up with a set of SBP 10" drums that slipped right onto his spindles, and the UCA's I believe are waiting for the day when the LBP disc setup get's installed (probably sometime after his slant pummels mine at the track, and about the same time he installs a better rear-end to match the LBP...)
