Most machine shops will do just the bottom cut of the valve job if you ask. That way you can port with less money (and risk of nicking a fresh seat) involved...

That's more or less what they did - just the 70 degree cut and a clean up with the 45 degree. I was going to bring it back after for the final 45 cut and a bit of 30 degree.

Anybody tried "Extrude Honing" instead of grinding?

I'm thinking of seeing how well it goes to match the ports to a Clifford HyperPak manifold, plus fitting hardened seats and bigger valves of course.

You need someone to have the proper tooling, I didn't think anyone still did. CNC porting has taken over most of the common applications.

Proper tooling is not engine specific for extrude honing. Greg Ondayko on this site had his HP intake extrude honed so you might talk to him.
