I see, and if the Y to the single doesn't sacrifice power, then why run duals?

Makes sense...

Is there any math behind how long your downpipes run before going into the Y with regard to power, noise or anything else? I've seen the Y pretty close to the dual manifolds and as far back as past the tranny...what's the logic there? I think space is an issue near the tranny, but otherwise is there any gain from closer or further from the manifolds for the Y?
