It's Still a huge turd.... But I like it in the turd-like state!

Well I had a Flat tire(front) when I went up to stage for the Gambler's race on Saturday after the Slant 6 Eliminations were done.


So I had to find some other tires and wheels So I could run the race on sunday.


Brian mimken had Some Large Bolt pattern Rallyes for sale That Ron Hamby Bought... Ron Hamby was gracious enough to let me borrow 2 wheels / tires to thow on ruster for sunday's race.


I got back home and ordered 2 new front runners. My old Hoosiers were trashed and totally worn in the center.. I Probably had too much air pressure in them.


Also I Have to relocate the Tranny cooler - Oh hotter days it's not cooling like it did when I Had that open grille.

It will be relocated under the Passenger side Of the car.

Well After Getting The DS-2's balanced and relocating the Tranny Cooler,

I headed to the track yesterday for some Runs. Weather Was cool, and humidity was low.. Rare for this time of year in PA, but it was good.


I ran another 12.88 @ 105.1 (matching my best from mason-Dixon A few weeks ago.

A 13.00 off the trailer was pretty good too. I tried The 3 way adjustable Front shocks on loan from Rick Covalt. (thanks Rick!)

90-10's for runs 3, and 4, and 80-20's for runs 5-6.

the 60' Times slowed anywhere from .002~.005 With these shocks versus the Stock Oil Type front shocks.


Also I found a new converter to try. Just have to install it.

Well at last Check Ruster was 317.54# Lighter in May 2011 than it was in Nov. 2010.

I managed to find 10# toward my summer goal of getting 100# out by the end of summer 2011.

I took something off a while back that was 1# and I took out 9# today.


So now ruster is 327.5 # lighter than nov. 2010.

RF door Lost alot of weight.

RF Cowl heater box area is lighter

RF fender Lost some unneeded bracing.

LF&RF inner wheel house got lightened a bit. (I GOT WINDOWS MARK!)

Other junk I got done - Planning cold air intake system, - Planning Rear Spring Rework, Trying Looser converters (when time / $ allows)

Even with new Front tires I dont like the wear on them after 1 weekend racing - So I am going to re-check the alignment - I think It changed a bunch when I lowered the car.

Lots of good cutting ideas for the GodsRods Duster. Getting it together and running comes first, then we'll start some more serious lightening.

Do you have a plasma cutter, or do you use something else?

Classic Trucks magazine had an article on putting in a big rear window a couple months back. They recommended the cheapie $9.99 Harbor Freight metal saw.

So after Seeing some undesirable wear on my New ds-2's Front runners.

I decided to invest in a set of toe plates and A Bubble Gauge for setting caster / camber.

I figured the wear was caused mostly by toe; as I had the car up 2 years ago When It was aligned after Rebuilding the front suspension and converting it to discs.

Now that it's much lower the toe was waay out. So I fixed that and I also installed a Cold air intake made of drain pipe parts.

Rob, I wish I could afford a plasma cutter now, but nope I just use holesaws and cutoff wheels!

I use a sanding disk and some files on the cuts and holes when I am done so I dont bloody Myself when I go to Work on the car

Nope. No cool tools here either. I haven't even un-boxed my MIG welder yet!

Thanks for the tip on finishing up the cuts. I thought they looked too nice to have JUST been done with a cut off wheel.

Well Here are the Cold air Intake Pics (below)

Went to Test n Tune tonite To try out the cold air intake and 9.5#'s of weight reduction since last week.

I got to make 4 runs - Run #1 is always a "throway" becaust the tranny and rear oil are not hot.. Run #2 I didnt set the Shifter correctly so did not do well there.. But then the 12.85 and 12.94 Runs at the end of the nite.



This Cobbled up bits of Plastic Pipe seems to really Help the 60' Times Pretty Consistent on all 4 runs down in the 1.86-1.84 Second Range.

Congrats on the 60' times and best 1/4 time. Time to try w/pipe disconnected and connected to see if that's what made the differernce. 104 MPH is cookin'. Still think you have 12.50s lurking in that thing.
