a horizontal 6? How did they do oil pan? I guess a slight angle would be needed to keep oil from pooling behind the pistons? I saw a Lynx single weber side draft intake on a slant, that was one crude looking intake: straight shot into 3 and 4, about a 80 degree branch going to 1-2 and 5-6. tried to trade it for a stock 2bbl and a guarantee it would work better than that piece but lady had to ask her dad, never heard back.

I would think 1 and 6 would be bawling through out the cycle. Looks like a lean condition design. It ran ok, I heard it but never drove it. Young lady didnt know what she had in there as she claimed her dad just retrieved it from the "top of a hill" of a neighbors property. I equate that to a barn find or a "hadn't seen pavement in 20 years" story.

I always thought it would be cool to install a horizontal AKA "Space Saver" marine engine under the floor of a van or wagon and make a mid-engined sprots car.

The intakes on the space saver engines look like they make a 180 degree bend up and over the valve cover, which would make adjusting the valves on those engine QUITE a chore, considering the manifolds would have to be removed to get the valve cover off, then reinstalled to run the motor for adjustment, then removed to put the valve cover on, etc... AND the nuts are on the bottom of the motor.

Still, seeing that would almost be enough to make me buy a boat!

I think the space saver would fit mostly under the floor of a B-van, but there would likely have to be a small hump and some lost ground clearance.

The drawings show that the intake manifold isn't in the way of the valve cover, but moving the carburetor temporarily might make a valve adjustment easier.

Ah! I missed that. Still, I think I would run a hydraulic lifter setup if I had one of these. You would definitely want a remote oil filter setup.

Thanks for posting those Dan! Very interesting info. Now I really think it would be a fun project to put one of those engines mid-ship in a van!
