Post subject: | A Bit Lighter Now. |
Too Bad it's lighter in the rear of the car All the stuff from cutting the wheelhouses bigger resulted in 2.28# lost. Calculated weight of 2190.7# Time to hit the track next week with the Holley 750 and the New Slicks. Greg |

Did the new tires weigh more? Tom |

I have to look into that Tom, I hate weighing stuff to see if it weighs more than what it replaced .... They most likely do but if they 60' better than the old ones i think it will negate that fact. Wheel enlargements complete: |

Post subject: | Update 9-14-12 |
Well I have been up to a few things latley. The New Slicks which are 28X10.0's 60' really well and I have had no traction issues with these even while running some higher pressures. I have had Many Passes on the Holley 4150 HP 750 Carb and it does not pull on the big end yet like the carter 750 AFB does.. Lots more Tuning and Playing with jetting / airbleeds etc. will need to be done to see if this carb is worthwhile on my setup. Best ET on the Holley 750 was 12.85... super Slow for Ruster at this point.. It needs Jetted down.. too rich yet. I have gotten all the parts for the 'Roll Cage So I will begin Fabin that all up in the winter. Last Night at PRP in "good Air" ~50% Humidity Below 70* and Baro 30.2X the car ran a 12.29 And a 12.26 @ 108.. The 12.26 ET came on another set of slicks I was allowed to try - 26x8.5's The Smaller Diameter only made a difference of .001-.003 seconds in the ET as compared to the 12.29 run.. "better air" could have made the difference too. I also was pleased to see some 1.70-1.71 60' Times with my "lazy" 3500 Midwest converter. Remember that Ruster's best ET is a 12.24 At Pittsburgh This year, I think 11.s are in sight. The PTC Converter will be going in this week to try at soon @ Pittsburgh For a TNT Session. Winter Upgrades include: -Install Roll Cage. -Remove Mass off the front of the car equivalinet to mass of roll cage. -Possible Motor Plate and Move engine/ Trans 12" rearward. (includes shortening / rebalacing of Driveshaft.) -a 12" shorter Driveshaft will be Lighter!! YAY. -Possible install of Lightweight Early A k frame. - Install wilwood Lightweight Front Brake rotors / calipers. - Hack off as much weight as possible off the front without sacrificing structural integrity of the car. - More AERO Parts. - Fab up / install "pseudo Belly Pan to connect bottom of front plastic bumper to Front of k Frame.. Also it will be a retention area for all of my lost / broken alternator belts - Install A bunch of Lightweight / Rollerized parts from A&A trans in my 904 when time / budget allows.. I could easily Rack up $2500+ in my 904 wishlist. -Build the 4.88 Chunk with spool for the 8.75" rear (still waiting on my 4.88 gears from summit) Stay Tuned. Greg |

I thought so too.. but it still throws belts occasionally .. I need to try a larger alternator pulley with a deep groove. That will be a winter project too.Greg |

Post subject: | Converter Swap 9-20-12 (again) |
Well I am just getting all the Lines hooked up, & Fluid topped off and Bolts Snugged after Going Back to the PTC Converter - It used to be Green but when it went to PTC for a refresh and New Pump Drive install it came back black.. Last Week i Achieved a 1.70 60' Time with the Midwest 3500 stall converter that I dont like.. I think with the rim screws and the Sticky slicks this converter should be faster.. We will see. Greg |

I agree with Lou. Nothing like a small converter and a big Holley to make your car come alive in the fall air. Wish you were coming to Clay City. |
