Yes these are just for drag racing Not for street or Road racing. Wilwood has other kits similar to this one for Those purposes. I am "weigh"ing the options of going with a rear disc Kit as well.. Currently the Kit I am looking at is about 6# of rotating mass vs the Lightest rear drumI currently have on ruster is a tad over 9#.. the other side I think is 10.25# And then The backing plates etc would get replaced with a super light brakcet / caliper / pads. Post subject: | Roll Cage Weigh In 11-26-12 |
Well after completing the Front Disc install I figured I would start Prepping for the Roll cage install. I laid out all the tubes, Plates and Gussets that came with the kit. It all adds up to 66.94# of roll cage (probably a Bit Less after Cutting, trimming and Notching and final fitment is complete). So I need to Find 67 # of other Stuff to cut off the car this winter! Maybe I will invite Seymour and Guzzi Mark Over while do the cage install.. I can add weight and they can chop the car, set the engine back, put an aluminum roof On, and a bunch of other gratuitous cutting and sawzalling to the front of the car! Greg |

You are Prolly Right Lou, But Mine is an 8 Point - It has a few more bars to the kit. Better safe with a bit more weight I guess.. and by installing it the chassis is supposed to flex less too which is a good thing. I Might have to put windows(cutouts) in my subframe conncetors like Seymour did. Greg |

Post subject: | Roll Bar Install 12-16-12 |
Well all of the parts of the Roll Bar Kit are Tacked in Place in the car. The finish Welding will be done soon, I am having a Local Welding expert take a look at my practice Tig Welds Before I do any finish welding on the car. A few Weeks ago I weighed all of the components of the rolbar Kit - It came out to 67# - after the install 9.5 # of that was trimmed or cut off the kit. So at last Check Ruster was at 2141.7# + 57.5# for Roll bar Kit..Calculated Weight is now at 2199.2# So I will be trying to find some areas to do some cutting - To see If I can get the car back down below 2150# Here are Some Pics, Enjoy! 9.5# of Rollbar Kit Cut away. These are a Few Pics of the Bars installed.. Many Times The First side I did Had a mistake that I was able to correct on the other Side.... Live and Learn.. Next Finsh Welding and Some Cutting of Junk I don't Need... Trying to Get back to 2150# Greg |

Post subject: | Roll Bars Complete, Painted, Finish Welded 1-17-13 |
This project took quite a bit of Time in Getting all the Fab work and TIG/ GTAW done. The Joint prep For 4130 Tubing Has to be pretty Spot on with no Gaps .. That is tedious Work. I sure do not envy any Fab man that installs and tig welds saftey tubes into stocktype bodied cars. It's just hard to get comfortable and get the torch and filler to work in all the goofy angles that are present in Tubing fab.. Sheesh - hats off to you guys! Tubes are all finish welded and Painted... They actually look pretty good painted :-0 Seat and support bracket is installed as well. Here are The pics: On to Putting New Belts on when the Paint dries.. and Then Some Possible Lightening or Aero parts! Greg |
