Well did Ruster break the 11.99 barrier?

Post your predictions

No! You are not allowed to run a 11 second run at my home track when I'm not there! I say 12.03 @ 108. That way you can save it till I can see it!

I'm guessing 11.85 @ 110mph. With the changes you made and the great weather today I wouldn't be surprised if it was even faster!

Hey Greg,

What's up with the Nurburgring bumper sticker? :?

Ruster is awesome and I love following along with your build, but... umm,... "The Ring" ain't quite what Ruster is made for...

I don't remember there being a dragstrip there... :?

I predict you ran 11.97 @ 109.

Post subject:  Results from 3-9-13 TNT @ Mason Dixon

Here are the Results From Mason Dixon Test n Tune:

Lots of good Guesses - Rick and Rob were Closest..I have to buy each of you a beer net time I see you. Ryan - I wish that was the case.

Best Time of 11.95 @ 109.53 MPH.

Fastest Trap Speed was 109.80 MPH.

I have No video 'cause no one wanted to come and Join Me. :-(

Oh well.

The Car seems to Have Trouble Hooking up now with the Better Converter, - This is a New Problem for me. So I will have to address some suspension Dynamics Issues and Try some Stuff. of course it seems that Many people with faster cars have complained about traction on the starting pad at Mason Dixon. Some times I had Big globs of rubber on the tires when I got Back to the Pits.. Weird.

I got a total of 10 Runs and I found out that for now Launching at 2500 is better than launching at 3000 or 3500..

Here are the Time slips.. all pretty close except for the first run when I pushed through the staging Beams and the Run in the left lane where there was no traction.. Spinning through the 60' and had ginormous globs of rubber on tires when returned to pits.

@ Rob Simmons:
The Nurburgring item is a plate not a decal. It's just for fun.. I brought it back from the honeymoon.

You are right - No dragstrip there, just the F1 Track and the Nordschlife.. Hockenheimring has a Dragstrip.

Congratulations Greg. I am having trouble reading the time slips. What was your best 60' time? How about on the 11.95 run? What was the range throwing out extenuating circumstances? Thanks, Seymour

Greg
The dragstrip at Hockenheim doesn't get as much action as it should. There is no weekly program or anything. They just have a couple big races a year. The Ring is where the draw is there. "Touriste Farhten" every other Thursday. :D I've posted a couple pictures of my SRT-4 racing there with Porshces, BMWs, etc. FUN! :D

Congrats on the 11.95! That's awesome! I admire your dedication.

Huge congrats, Greg!

Looks like 1.610 60' time on Greg's fastest run, and that was the best 60'.

This guy might be a contender for some records before too long...

Post subject:  Calling Drag Racing Chassis Engineering Guru's

Thanks Lou, I will keep Trying stuff until I have tried everything and it goes slower.

These are some Pics from the Track Photographer Last weekend at Mason Dixon.

He does some good work..

in some Shots you can see how crappy the Launching pad is... They need to get that flame thrower out and burn off all that garbage..

Anyway Please take a look at these and Lets start talking suspension tuning.

It seems to Me besides adding a bit more -Pinion angle - (I have shims to do this) I would need to go to a Calvert's type system to Adjust individual preload on the Rear Springs independent of each other.

I think that the starting pad presented some problems for me as well, But with a converter that Is a bit more flashy in the 60' I ned to learn how to do this tuning.. I really dont see a 4 link in the future.. Just maybe some modified Stock Stuff - Possibly different Shocks (front and or rear) and or Split Mono Leafs with Caltracs...

I have a Drag racing Chassis Book that I have been studying, But I would like your thoughts.

Cal Tracs are a good option and not all that expensive.BUT I don't think you need them just yet.Track prep would have been nice to have that day.
It looks in photo 3 the tires were out of the groove and in the marbles.
All the wiz-bang high tech stuff is useless on a surface like that.

Post subject:  Clifford Long Tubes VS Mopar Performance 6 Into 1's

Well The Data is in.

The Clifford Long tubes Suck for the setup I have for Ruster.

Here's the Nitty Gritty of it all:

I had most Recently Run a Car/ Personal Best of 11.95 @ Mason Dixon in
March 2013.. Had some traction / starting line issues. This Setup used the Mopar Performance 6 Into One Headers.

A few weeks Later I wanted to try the Clifford Long Tubes that consist of a 3 into 2 Collector Design:
Image

As you can see here in this pic, clearnace issues down at the Deep 904 Pan caused the Headers on the Front to not seat against the head without this little 3/8" gap.

As you can see, The collector flange and deep 904 pan tried to occupy the same space, Some Beating on the pan and a lot of cutting the flange made of an acceptable clearance (I stuck an old radiator Hose in between them to act as an insulator.)
Image

Image

I put some 18" Collector extensions on, after the First Pass they ended up at about 9" which seemed to pick me up 5 tenths, but it was still dead slow.
Image

The Time Slips tell the Story too... First pass with 18" collector extensions - SLOW.... Then I Cut them back to 9" long(using the Old Cut em off where the Paint Stops Burning Trick) .. better but not in the 11's, So that's another experiment in the Record books... The MP 6 into 1's Make More Top end power and These Suck.. Maybe time to Try some Hookers and a set of clifford Shorties :-)
Image

Back to The 6 into 1's and I will Hit the track again to see if I can repeat some 11.9X runs..

You really need to do back to back tests with the same conditions to see if things are better or worse...............
