Wow. That is exactly opposite to what Mike saw on the dyno. Did you try the headers before you changed gears? |

I did not expect that either.Did you try the headers before you changed gears? Yes I tried those headers about 3 weeks ago, and have not made a run yet with the 4.88's Greg |

Greg, do the 6 into 1 headers have 1 1/2" OD pipes? |

Post subject: | Test n Tune 7-25-13 |
Well I went to test n tune lat night and tried out the 4.88 gear set. I observed no real gain in et or speed on any of the parts of the time slip. slowest pass was a 12.35@ 106 and best pass was 12.18@ 107 et s are slower by .2 and 2 mph slower at the quatr mile traps air was cool and barometer was steadily rising the entire night so I believe in those conditions with the 4.56's ruster would have been faster. So I will be putting the 4.56's back in and install the rear disc kit.. it should shave some weight from the back suspension. good news was that the stage 8 locking fasteners did not loosen yet. you know the old school thoughts were a bigger foot print would get u down the track quicker. what is the launch rpm ? do the 4:88's spin much ? |

Greg, do you track humidity too? On cool nights it is not unusual for the humidity to go up. Little motors seem to dislike humidity more than heat. Rising barometer should have been good. |

@ slantzilla: yes I kept track of the humidity and the car was going faster as the baro went up; at the same time temps went down and the humidity went up. my car seems to respond to tempature and pressure as primary factors and humidity as a secondary factor. I am not sure if it's my combination or what but thats the trend since I started to log the runs and keep track with my weather station. so by my expierence the car would have been getting faster as the night went on.. and it did that with the 4.88's....... but still a tenth to two tents off the mark and 2 mph slow through the traps for the air conditions. If I compared the air conditions to similar runs made with the 4.56's the car would have been quicker. also the car just didn't feel as aggressive as with the 4.56's. for what is worth... @ usajon: bigger footprint? do you mean a taller tire or wider tire?. no I am keeping the same tire and I connot fit anything bigg than what I haveq now. I tried launching at 2000, 2500, 3000, and 3500. it did better with the higher launch rpm, and it did hook. no spinning issues.. but it seems that the 488's are too low for the sweet spot in my combo. OK I reviewed your youtube launch and I did not see any spin, or hear any. I see you use a line lock. Have you ever considered a trans brake ? Have you ever launched @ 4000 ? these things will lead to more broken weak parts on the car though. |

I have considered using a trans brake but I have not thoroughly investigated it yet with respect to. cost etc. the highest launch rpm I can achieve is 3500... any higher and it will push throught the beams.
