looks like your also going from a 3clutch to a 5clutch drum. are you going with the up dated coil spring front piston like a 727?
Yes - It has the 904 version of the 727 Spring pack!

Post subject:  Trans Re Assembly 12-16-15

I Ordered a Bunch of New Steels, clutches and Bands from A&A a week or so ago.

They all arrived and now I began to install them into the Trans.

I first Loaded up all the new clutches into the 5 clutch drums and Checked the clearances - I have been Running only 3 clutches in the car since I first built it.

The Rear clutches looked pretty good on teardown - The sides of the clutch discs that were against the black Kolene Steels were black, but not charred - I think that is just some of the kolene Coating wearing off - The Front drum Clutches were a bit charred, but not severely - I had standard steels in there. For this build with the 5 clutch drums i used all kolene steels.
Pics!

Here are Some Shots of the output Shaft Support - Rollerized now - Modified by Rick and Company at A&A:

Also, I did a slight bit of case modification - I had a Notch for converter bolt access, but it was too small so I enlarged the access window.

I will be getting the gear train and all of the other goodies installed soon.

I should have this thing assembled and ready to rock and roll by 2016!

I somehow managed to run 11s on 6 clutches. I hope there is more power to the tires with 10 clutches. Maybe I was giving up some et through slippage?

We will see!

HAPPY BELATED NEW YEAR!

While most people have forgotten their new year resolutions or failed to keep them, I stared on my 2016 Resolution Back in December of 2014... Saving some Ca$h to get some Aluminum and Roller 904 Goodies from Rick at A&A Transmission.

It was a Nice 64* here today on January 31.. which is welcome when you want to open the garage door, fire up the car, change the oil, check the Trans fluid, and run the freshly assembled Trans through all of the gears.

For the Fresh Trans Build and Parts... I am happy to report That I just needed to do a shift cable adjustment to keep the Gear selector from flip- flopping between "N" and "D" but otherwise it seems to be in great shape!

March 5th Is Opening Day at Mason Dixon - Probably a Full month before anything around here opens up, I cant wait!

Time to Double check everything, Install New Seat belts and Hang the Front Facia and go Slant Six Racing 2016!

Post subject:  Spring 2016 Update 4-24-16

Today Was the 3rd Attempt that I had made since Re assembling the transmission with Aluminum Parts and A full roller Setup. It also has a lower first gear than stock.

The First and second attempts out I had quite a bit of trouble with the trans actually shifting to 3rd gear consistently.

I chased my tail adjusting the shifter cable and it was not that.

It's something in the valvebody - Which I had used since 2009 with no problems. But for some reason after this rebuild and re assemble it's not acting the same -

I think I will be getting a new one soon, but for now This one seems to be working for the meantime.

I made 5 passes today at Keystone Raceway (Used to Be Pittsburgh Raceway park) The track management changed the name back to the 1960's-1990's name.

The Megasquirt was breaking up a bit at the top end - But I was able to tune that out after a few passes.

So was able to make a few respectable passes with the Barometer About 1.0 - 1.5 Lower than the Fall 2015 Race when I posted my best times.

I noticed that my 60' Time is a few 100'ths Slower than my all time best - That could be attributed to the air or the other converter that I have been running last year and this year.

Here's The rundown:

Pass#4:
1.65 60'
7.56 1/8 Mile
11.9389 @ 110.40 1/4 Mile

Pass#5
1.65 60'
7.57 1/8 Mile
11.9518 @ 111.39 1/4 Mile

So I think that at a low elevation / Fast track in early spring or fall, I could pick up another 2 tenths.

New Slicks could also support the cause.
New Valve body or upgrade to trans brake from A&A Transmission Will be ordered as well.

Greg congrats on getting the new tranny to do its thing. Times look good and very consistent. Is this the first time you have used the Transbrake?
See you in M-D.
