I installed a spring on the trans lever on my truck because the lever was "lazy" in returning to light pressure (I am using a Lokar KD cable). The trans lever will come back immediately now, but the spring on the trans end does increase the effort to press the accelerator down. Adding a spring at the trans is essentially the same as adding an additonal spring to the throttle linkage at the carb (with the cable KD at least).
