I am building a street rod using a slant from a 74 dodge 1/2 ton pick up.

The trans. is one I do not recognize. it is a top loader with column shift

linkage and an odd third lever on the side of the case that would appear

to be some sort of reveres lock out, or a device to prevent the

engagement of two gears at once (not all that uncommon with worn

linkage. Can anyone tell me what trans. this is, and can I get a shorter

tail shaft and housing? It has no boss for a floor shifter on the tail stock

as I have seen on most MoPars of that period

I think thats a heavy duty truck trans with the low creeper first gear,the other(not top loaders) 4spd in trucks were the same as the ones that were put in the car,this is the kind thats in my truck an 83,150,I'm not sure if the top loader is trans you would want in a car,some one else with more info should chime in ,,,speedfreak
