ok, i'm sure i'm going to make some of you guys cringe! i need to get my brakes done and have a new muffler put on my car. where would you guys suggest i take my car to. problem is the muffler has been welded on (i just bought the car), and i don't have the time to do the work myself ( the car is my daily driver). thanks!

Stay away from the cheapie chains (Midas, Meineke, Speedy, etc.). Find a good independent tech in your area—ask around.

SlantSixDan: sorry, it took me so long to get back with you. i think i know of a place for the exhaust (it's all they do), and another place for the brakes. now, if i can find some time... thanks!
