I'm looking to add a K&N open element air filter to a '75 Dart that still has the original 1 bbl carb. Looking at K&N website, it is unclear to me which one I need, especially as it relates to hood clearance. Anyone else who has made this swap already, can you tell me which one to purchase?

Also, if I decide to move to a "Super Six" in the future, will the same open element setup fit over a 2 bbl carb or will I be stuck buying another new setup?

Here is a link to relevant section of K&N website:
http://www.knfilters.com/Racing/custom.htm

I just finalized registration of my car as a Wisconsin classic, and passed my last emissions test EVER :D so in addition to the new air filter I will be "losing" a lot of that emissions garbage (cough cough cat converter cough)

Thanks!

A 1 barrel carb uses an 8" element and a 2 barrel carb uses a 10" element.
You can look and see what size you need by checking out what an 87(I believe was the last year the slant was available in a truck) pick up needed. That is what I had to do when I got the K&N for my supersix.

You could get the 2-barrel setup, then add a throat adaptor so it works with the 1bbl carb. When you get to a 2bbl, just remove the adaptor......
