I posted this on slantsix.com but realized I'd probably get
more responses here. I have a 69 Dart. At least one mount is bad for sure. I got 2 new ones for a whopping $10 each.
What is the best way to change them with the engine in the car?
Assume I could take off the lower nuts and use a floor jack with a block
of wood to lift the engine under the oil pan. Can I do one side at a time?
In other words can I loosen the opposite nut and just jack up one side of
the engine so it doesn't shift so much?

Yes, the method you propose will work. I've used it before. Hope your engine mounts were $10/ea because they were new old stock that somebody didn't know what to do with, and not because they're garbage from China.

Is there any way to tell by looking at my motor mounts whether
they are Chrysler or China rip offs.
Since the slant six has been out of production for so long
it didn't even occur to me that our Asian friends would have tooled
up to make them.
One of my pet peeves is that we no longer make any steel-
and apparently the Chinese bought some of our steel mills and
shipped them over there on ships.
You are Canadian I assume, but probably have sympathy in this matter.

My Mopar parts conncection got me the two side mounts last week and I returned them because I am doing a truck and the car mounts won't work. We were mount fishing, of course. Original, still available, boxes nice and dusty but mounts nice and fresh...and not "imports". They were in the $8 range as I recall. Part number is ANH 2235 from Parts 4 Plus. ...2 threaded studs on one side, one threaded stud on other. If this helps, fine, if not please ignore.

rock were these the old style mounts that are square? I have a parts 4 plus here in town and would love to get some replacement mounts for mine. I have a 62 Lancer so its kinda tough to scrounge them up. Course mine are plenty spongy, but that's something else

Mounts are different per engine AND body style.

'60-'61 Valiant/Lancer, that's one type of left, one type of right and one type of rear mount.

'62-'66 A-body slant-6, that's two types of right and one type of left mount. (Convertible uses a different Right)

'64-'66 A-body V8, that's one type of left and one type of right mount.

'62-'72 A-body all engines, that's one type of rear mount.

'67-'72 A-body slant-6, that's one type of left and one type of right mount.

'62-'65 B-body slant-6, that's one type of left and one type of right mount.

So on and so forth.

Sometimes you can make incorrect applications work.

$7 and $8 and $10 new motor mounts ain't American-made.

I am gladly going to file /6 Dan's listing....what a great compilation. The mounts I referenced listed @ $18 each, just heavy discounting to final price. I buy lots of stuff there. I was looking for square ones for the truck and these were the rectangular mounts. I could pay Steele to make a set, but I don't want $250 motor mounts....maybe we need to get up a motor mount order for Steele and reduce the unit cost to a more manageable $25.

I replaced my mounts with a brand called Anchor.
No they are not made in the US

One of those days. I took both nuts off the bottom of the motor mounts
and jacked up the engine with a block of wood. - could not get the right mount to get out of the hole. (I had a lot of confidence- I mean I've put
a 440 into a 68 Barracuda so I thought this would be a piece of cake)
I did not loosen the trans mount bolts but didn't think I'd need to.
What gives?

Are you talking about the motor mounts themselves or just the rubber bushings that go inside? At NAPA complete motormounts for my Duster were almost 40 bucks each. I just bought the bushings, which were $12 each.

My motor mounts are the round type though.

I got a 64 convertible. I never knew that The right mount was supposed to be different? Have a part number on that?

The factory convertible mount was sized and shaped the same, but had a slightly different rubber compound to deal with different body-resonance frequencies in the convertible. Don't strain your brain or your wallet looking for unobtainium special convertible mounts; go get a pair of these and never have to think about your engine mounts ever any more.

yep all '64 darts will have the same passenger mount.
2 or 4 door sedan, hardtop or convertible.

Can I dust off this old topic again? Still these are the best? My '64 convertible has worn out mounts. the rubber is all done... When the car get's the most torque low in revs when driving off the engine tilts making a metal/scraping noice. (when either flooring it or driving extremely gentle I can avoid the tilting).

I remember reading elsewhere that poly mounts cause more vibration and weren't good at all? And since shipping items from over the pond is more expensive then buying a plane ticket, I can't afford buying the wrong ones and have them shipped over.

You can certainly buy that garbage from RockAuto (or any other source), if you want to have to do the job again soon.

Write to Johnny @ Polybushings and see if he'll make you a softer-than-usual set of the 2303-2304 mounts.
