I am having a problem with my front tires rubbing when I turn.

I just completed a disc brake swap/front end rebuild. My original tires were 185 80/13 (24.65"). My new tires are 215 70/14 (25.85"). I got them from a friend who has a '73 Challenger (Magnum rims).

My question is: Am I wasting my time trying to get these tires to work because they are too tall? Do I not have the ride height high enough? I know that some of you use 205 70/14 (25.30"). Is the half of an inch that big of a difference? I have already bent that little corner on the fender.

I have 70s on the back, so I don't think I want to put 60s on the front. Would that look goofy? Should I just get a set of 205 70/14 or am I missing some "adjustment"?

Thanks

I solved a rubbing problem on my '66 Dart by rolling the inner fender lip. Put a baseball bat between the tire and the lip (protect the lip with a rag if you don't want to scratch the paint) and roll the bat back and forth to force the lip against the outside sheet metal. I'm running 225/50R16 tires, which are a little shorter than yours but slightly wider. I've got the ride height set low enough that the tops of the tires are just barely tucked into the fender.

I guess I have the ride height too low. I can barely fit my hand in between the tire and fender. I don't think a bat will work.
The place it is rubbing is the lowest part of the fender. If you were looking at the tire, with the front of the car on your right, it rubs @ 3 O'clock.
