What years/models can I get a brake light switch for my '64 Dart? I want to get some info, if possible, before I go to the junkyard.
I'm talking about the switch that activates the brake lights and the brake pedal touches when my foot is off of the brake.
Thanks

'60-'65 are directly interchangeable.

'66-'76 are the same size and shape and go right in, but the rear terminal's a standard 1/4" flat one instead of the funky round one used on the earlier switches, so you have to install a new (flat female) terminal on the end of the wire that connects.

Original replacement switches, and aftermarket ones well into the '80s, came with the bracket. Present replacement switches come without the bracket; you have to crunch the old switch out of the bracket with a big pair of pliers, then install the new switch from the front of the bracket and the retainer ring from the back. The ring holds the switch more-or-less securely. I see the original type go by on eBay on a regular basis. Here's one on eBay for $12 that includes a little adaptor pigtail.

OR, you can use the '68-up "Heavy Duty" switch, which has a threaded shank and two locknuts. This allows you to adjust its height much more easily.
