Post subject: | Amp guage needle pegs to charge side periodically |
Okay, this started last night. The amp guage needle decided to peg to the charge side for a few seconds then the nuetral position(straight up and down). When it did this the light got brighter. Last time this happened the guage just bounced all over the place. It turned out to be my alternator. Could it be my alternator again or is it the voltage regulator? I'm running a 72 and up electronic ignition and charging system. Thanks-Dart68 |

It's more than likely the VR... that is, unless something is grounding inside the alternator or the field wire. Most likely the VR fixes it. D/W |

What'd you buy for a replacement alternator? If a parts store "remanufactured" unit, that could very easily be your problem. |

It was the voltage regulator. Its replaced now. Thanks guys |
