If I wanted to race at LV in March what would I have to do to the car?
I have a 4 point harness, helmet, fire jacket, neck brace....a fire extinguisher is easy. Will I need a driveshaft loop? I have no scattershield....will a trans blanket do?
What else should I know?

you do not need a driveshaft loop unles you run slicks. your 4 point harness can not be more than 2 years old, but if you have stock seat belts age does not matter..try to figure that one out?? battery hold is required everywhere. radiator catch can. if you run a after market carb you need to have 2 return springs. i think you only need a scatter shield
if you run slicks . have to go ,will add more if I think of little things you need.

Driveshaft loop is 13.99 or quicker, slicks or not. Scattershield is 11.49 and quicker now I believe. Aftermarket wheels require long wheel studs, but that usually isn't enforced.

The "How to Bracket Race" article has some good info.
http://www.slantsix.org/articles/bracke ... t_race.htm

14 second and slower is pretty easy to get teched, seat belts, radiator catch can, all the lug nuts, no wheelcovers and two throttle return springs usually does the trick.

Slantzilla, the rulebook now says reguarding lug/stud issue that the lug nut must have thread contact the width of the stud(not the old must be half way thru the hex portion of the nut). Also if you have anytype of non factory power enhancer ie, turbos nitrous or blower a 3.2A1 jacket is mandatory no matter the speed or ET.On the belts if the acr doesn't require them 11.50 or slower there really is no expiration date.

I wore a jacket this year anyway. Hope Doug sees this. He'll need one too.

If there is a date tag on the harness it does have to be in date. Aftermarket shoulder harnesses can no longer be attached to the floor either. Only exception is factory type belts.

My 4 point harnesses have the shoulder portion attached through the floor(Big Washers)....are you saying Id get busted for that? The lap belt goes to the factory location(floor).

The 1st year, I ran at Bristol (2001) with nitrous on my car, they would not let me use the nitous, because I did not have a jacket. That is the only track that has required me to have a jacket. I thought it was a track thing. I would definatly have a fire extinguisher. Even if the rules do not require one, some tracks do. A track in GA requires a fire extinguiser, in your pit area, if the car came in on a trailer. I think it is a state law.
