Do either of you know of any significant pros/cons concerning aluminum pumps compared to iron pumps? I know the alu. water pump uses bearings and a bronze bushing to support the shaft, so it seems that it should have no significant problems as compared to an iron one. I have one (used) aluminum oil pump, and it seems to have a gear mesh problem that I think is due to wear in the housing around the input shaft. I'd like to try to shave some weight, but not at the expense of durability. Roger |

Factory water and oil pumps were aluminum.
