Post subject:  HEI and Missing Wire

I'm working on installing an HEI unit in my truck. It no longer has lean burn. Problem is the new points distributor only has one wire comming off which goes to the coil. All the diagrams I've seen show two wires from the distributor to the HEI module. What, how, where?
And what does the ballast resistor look like?

To use the HEI, you cannot use the point distributer. You must use a mopar electronic distributer. The balast resister is a white ceramic part, about 1/2 inch square, about 2 1/2 inches long, with two electrical male spade connectors, one on each end. It should be mounted on the firewall.

I'm not sure you can do this with a points distributor. My HEI setup uses the electronic distributor from a late '70's Slant Six.

The ballast resistor is housed in a long (about 3", IIRC) rectangular white (usually discolored) ceramic piece bolted to the firewall or nearby. Depending on the year, it will have two to four spade connectors.
