Today I picked up a cast iron supersix intake and a matching Carter BBD that is in excellent shape. I am watching a supersix kickdown linkage on e-bay but it has already hit $30 and has 4 days to go. I plan on boring out my stock exhaust manifold outlet so I can run a 2 1/4 pipe all the way out the back. I plan on using a Flowmaster muffler, maybe a 40 series Delta flow or a 60 series which is made for sixes. How much will this wake up my Duster over the stock 1-barrel configuration. I have 2.76 gears out back so I don't know if my acceleration is going to improve all that much. Now with the Hollely 1945 it is a dog. By the way, does anybody know the length of the super six accelerator cable? I am eyeballing one of the stainless kits from lokar. |

I believe you can just use the throttle cable from an a-body that had a V8. |

Yeah I considered that, but I like the shiny look of stainless. Impresses the judges. |

The fact that I can't find a throttle cable for a v-8 (2-barrel) A-body screws things up too. |

Jeb, like I told you, seek and you will find! On the cable, I usually just run the original one-barrel cable, matter of fact, I'm still using it with the four-barrel on the Duster. Just put a nice sloping twist in the housing. If I was gonna spend big $$$ on KD linkage, I'd just go ahead and get the Lokar set-up. The 2V wakes things up a bit, but it's not going to make the car a tire-boiling hot-rod. A little more top-end and a tad bit more "perky" is about it. D/W |

Hey Dennis show me a picture of what you are talking about. Are you talking about the "camel hump" method? |

Jeb, don't have a picture handy (you can see it the somewhat Duster thread in the "slixer's gallery"), you can give it a little twist which will make it more like a "barrel roll" than a "camel hump" I think I've sorta got it "humped up" now to get it good and away from the heat of the headers, but it was more stealthy when it was "super six" setup. Very nice. I just picked up FOUR super six setups over the past two days lol. gotta love junkyards. 3cast and 1aluminum. kickdown and throttle linkage. None had carbs id want to mess with, ill keep an eye out for a good carb off a 318 van or something (van because they are a little more protected from the weather in a car thats at the junkyard) If i were you, i'd consider just a 3.23 gear swap. would be a decent little pickup off the bottom end, and highway wouldn't suffer too much.By the way, does anybody know the length of the super six accelerator cable? I am eyeballing one of the stainless kits from lokar. good luck! -Mike |

Will the cable off of a M-body work? I know where there is a bunch of Fifth Avenues. |

No, because I heard that the interior resonance with the 40 series is terrible. I am use to loud noise since our farm truck (90 F-250, 351 Windsor) has straight pipes on it. The exhaust stops right under the passenger side floorboard. At about 60 the exhaust quietens down to a burble but on acceleration it is deafining. But it does get a lot of attention (and tickets). I want a great sound on the outside but still be able to hear my radio. |
