I've been watching these @$&# things on Ebay for a couple months now. They typically start out at around $25 or $30 and then go though the stratosphere on the last day or 2 of bidding. I flat refuse to pay over $100.00 for one. A couple days ago one appeared at $49.99 with a "Buy It Now" button at $51.99. Shipping from San Jose is about $32.00 so I bought it now. Now I will need to figure out which carb to use but I'm thinking of some sort of staged 2 bbl. Another piece of the puzzle falls into place!

Your patience paid off. LET THIS BE A LESSON TO EVERYONE!

I just went through the same thing scoring an HP driver's side exhaust manifold for a '69 C-body. Due to my own stupidity, I broke the one I had, and the urge was to get another immediately so I could ride. I resisted that urge, and after watching them go for between $60 - $100, I emailed a seller who had newly listed one and got it for well under $50 "buy it now" 8 days after I started looking (and wouldn't even have paid as much as I did, if not desperate). By the way, I was searching locally and other avenues all the while (did find a guy with one locally for $20, but unfortunately for both of us, it proved to have a small crack), it just happened that the eBay one turned up first. FYI, a seller can add "buy it now" at any time as long as there are no current bids.

Ever try going to the junkyard? Last time i went i got 4 intakes for $25 each with the brackets and such...i have two good car kickdown linkage bracket/rods. and two that looked like someone mocked up.

Never hurts to get dirty to save a couple bucks :D

Yeah, I thought about going to the junkyard but here in the Phoenix area they are getting pushed further and further out. My understanding is that the going rate for 2bbl intakes is about $40.00, if you can find one, and with gas north of $40.00 a tank it wouldn't take long to sink what I spent on this one. I certainly don't mind getting dirty if that's what it takes but in this case it wasn't necessary.

I live in junkyards too. They are just full of things I don't want down here.
