I just braze a piece of hard line into the cover, then drill the small holes to drop oil on each rocker tip. I put some blobs of grease on each rocker tip, put-on the cover with tube brazed-in, roll the engine around a few times, remove the cover and look for the grease marks on the tube, that is where I drill the .020 holes.

I drill and tap the boss at the rear of the main oil gallery, then use a short section of hard line to lead-up to the cover. I put a junction (flair fitting) up at the valve cover so I can quickly disconnect the line and remove the cover.
You can use a "T" fitting down at the oil pump sending unit to pick-up oil pressure if you don't have a tapped hole in the oil gallery.

Just ask for a 1/8" NPT female run tee. It's brass.

If you want to, you can also buy an inverted flare bushing for the tubeline running up to your valve cover. Then you can just screw the flare nut into that. Any place that has brass fittings and a clerk knowledgeable in his/her terminology will have what you need.

Sending unit is only 1/8 ? I know someone who used this method on his /6 and I want to say the size was 3/8" but I can't be positive.

The tapped gallery hole is 1/8 NPT and the sender mounting hole on the oil pump is 3/8 NPT
A "T" with a 3/8 NPT male and two 1/8 NPT outlets would be the perfect on to use. (You would need a sending unit with the 1/8 thread, common on the later SL6 and V8s)

Doc, I am bringing up an old thread here, But I run my press. gauge off the boss mentioned in this thread; If I Tee it there, and run a Line to the spraybar, and to the gauge, will i still get an accurate reading on the gauge?

Thanks, Greg

As long as the holes in the spray bar are small and the flow is not high, then the gauge will read accurately. You should put the gauge sender on a tee right near the block hole.

Actually, it shouldn't matter what the spray bar does, as long as the sender or gauge line is in parallel with the spray bar line (teed) and is near the block. If the flow of the spray bar line is too high, then the whole oil gallery pressure will drop.

Thanks Lou, as you might gather, I am working out some kinks with the new parts here.

Thanks, Greg
