Hi everyone, i'm going to machine my own shackle bushings out of delrin (by the way, won't it be too hard? Do you think it will allow enough play. Can rubber be machined in a conventional lathe?) so I'm in search of the dimensions. Do you have an approximate length (not too critical right?) and the precise outside diameter? The inside is 1/2" right?
Thanks for your help

Marc

Darn near as hard as iron.

Dip rubber in liquid nitrogen to machine it. I know guys who just freeze it overnight in a deepfreeze, but it doesn't stay hard long.

You were one day late with your request. I just returned a set of bushings. The large spring eye is 1 3/8 inch (nominal), I did mike the od of the bushing, but forget what it was. I am refering to a 66 "A" body, a different body style might be different.

For an early "A" body, no one had them on the shelf. had to order thru NAPA. $50 for a complete rear spring bushing set ( 2 front bushings, and 8 shackel bushings).

NAPA seems to have a way with prices. They wanted $35 for a '65 Valiant master cylinder and $65 for a repair kit for one.

It's really more complicated than this, this side of the ocean...

P.S : it's for a '67 Dart

Come on guys, can anyone measure the small eye diameter? I'm gonna machine them out of delrin, a friend of mine told me it was not harder than polyurethane, so... Even if it's not the best choice for comfort, at least i will have something to put in my shackles!
I guess i should machine them a few 10ths more than the spring eye to make it tight, right?
Thanks for your help

Marc
