did anyone remove the hub from the front 10" brake drum?
should I hammer on the hub with the drum on 2 wood or remove the extra metal on
the wheel stud near the drum and pull the drum off.

The studs have to come out first. The studs hold the drum to the hub very well.

There's a little swedge over the stud holding the drum on. You need to cut the swedge off

I took off the heads by drilling the center with 1/2" bit and then using a chisel.
All other methods of removing the head are preferable, unless you don't mind ruining drill bits.
Looking at the five I removed this week, the swaged part of the stud that is flared out can be 1/8" long.

If you have a way to cut the swage off, you need to cut about 1/8" deep.
