To install tie rod ends and control arm bushings (upper and lower) do you need special tools? How is it done? bwhitejr |

You need a pickle fork to whack the ball joints out. They are cheap andavailable at any auto parts place. What I like better are the special tool (available from Just Suspension among others that basically is a bolt in a retainer that presses the joint out as you turn the bolt. |

To put the tie rod ends back on, you just keep turning the nut till it reaches the proper torque setting? bwhitejr |

I'd like to know the answer to this, including idler arm.bwhitejr And if you get a pickle fork, be sure to buy a unit that was made entirely in one piece. I bought one that apparently had a business end made from bar stock welded onto a hollow tubular handle. It lasted just long enough to get all the items on my suspension pulled before the weld shattered and the handle came off. |
