Wilkesboro is a big Slant Six event. Thanks to all you racers that keep coming back year after year. This is the Sixth Annual Empire Slant Six Shootout at WRP. Danny Dunn is looking forward to all us Slanters being back this year. As a bonus there will be Nitro Funny cars on the program too! Come on out and lets have some fun at Little Thunder Valley. Entry for Slant Six is free, just enter your specific bracket class. Tim Harrold (Empire) is sponsoring this event again making it the the largest purse we have this season. Dont forget bring your ride or your race car to be on display to the public in front of Empire Chrysler Dodge Jeep showroom Saturday morning before the race. Free event Tee shirts to each driver. Record number of cars this year? We can do it! See you there!
If anyone needs more info or has questions let me know.
Thanks
Ron Hamby

This is the one of two race events i look foward to go to. Ron Hamby and Danny Dunn and Empire Chrysler Dodge put up a great event. We have been there five years now and it gets better ever year. If you are a Slant Racer or a Slant Street Car try to come to this Event. A Street car won this event last year so come out and race with us. Thanks Ron Parker :D

Is this a 2-day event?

Yep, always a great time at NW! This will be my 5th consecutive year of attendance. See you all there with Sixes Shootin'...

I should be there Fri eve and will likely camp at the track.

Yes it is 1/8 mile.

Ron - What time will the race start on Saturday? I am going to have to work Saturday morning at least.

I plan to be there for the third year. Last year I couldn't come back on Sunday after the rainout - hope it's clear this year!
Farmington was my best chance so far for a 10 sec run, but I missed that, too. I hope I can get one up there despite the altitude. I've been messing with advance and carb tuning so maybe I'll have a chance.
Hopefully, I've killed the nasty wheelhop, too.
Maybe I'll bomb some fresh paint on it before we get there so people will speak to me...

sixinthehead if i did not talk to you last year i apolige. Sometimes the national points racers during race breaks doint have a lot of time to talk. They have to give there car some service. But if you are up friday evening or Saturday come out to Empire Chrysler and join us. Hell my car is the worst looking car at most events. But as Hans Solo said in Star Wars to Luke Skywalker it has got it where it counts. :D Thanks Ron Parker

I actually think your '69 dart looks respectable ...I mean look at my duster Ron...seriously lol.
Shiny dont equal fast!! :D Besides it dosent matter what your car looks like on the strip anyways...your dart is only seen for a little over 7 seconds anyways :D

Ron, you're one of the many great people I've met at slant events. My comment was made tongue-in-cheek to make fun of my car that I wish looked better, but let me take this opportunity to thank you and everyone who's made me feel like I belong despite my inexperience.
All the events I've been to so far have been enjoyable because of the friendly attitude of the slant family.
I add my invitation to everyone with a slant (or the appreciation of them) to join us at NW and every event they can to give support to these rare breeds; the cars and the people.

I can't wait to go! My 68 Dart and I will be there for the 5th year starting Friday evening.

Mike Andreas, just moved to Apex from LA, will be with me. James Longhurst should be there too. Both of them have Slant cars, but not running at the time. Make them feel welcome!

Lou

Tom the gate opens at 5:00 P.M. sometimes we get free practice for 30 minutes or so before qualifying which usually begins around 6:00. Danny has been good to let us slant racers in before the normal gate time if we get there in early afternoon.

Reminder to Slant racers try to be at Empire at 9:00 A.M. to show your car and get some photos taken.

Hope everyone has a great 4th of July!

Thanks Ron

Ron,

Do you know if there's practice Fri night and if so what time does it start?

Thanks,

Lou
