When I pulled the axles from a '64 7 1/4" rear, I noticed something. The axle seals on both sides of the car were installed with the lip (concave) side out, so you could see them.

(New seal pictured. The old ones got mangled a bit on the way out)

The flat faces were inboard.

That ain't right, is it?

By the way, they did not come out easily. One had been leaking a bit.

Car Model:
I want to pull the left rear axle on my 63 to put in right-hand wheel bolts/studs.
I don't detect any unusual noises from the rear axle.
Can I just replace this seal, or are there other parts to renew?
