I took the e-brake off my Dart when I put the 4 wheel disks on it. Someone mentioned to me that it is possible to install an e-brake that is essentially a line lock, like they do for the front during burnouts.Has anyone heard of this.? I dont; know how a line lock works. I dont; know if it is mechanical, or electrical. But the lowdown on this is that you use the hydraulic pressure to keep the rear brakes on when parked. Sounds interesting.

It is electric.
I don't know anyone that has used it for an E brake.
If you apply it for a long time it's going to drain the BATT or overheat the line lock/roll control solenoid.
Will hyd pressure in a brake system mantain long periods without leaking at the calipers or wheel cylinders?

There have over the years been non-electric line-locks, but hydraulic parking brakes are not a wise idea. The brake hydraulics are not meant to be left in an applied position/under pressure for hours at a time, and the point of an E-brake/parking brake is to have a braking system that is independent of the service brake hydraulics. In most of those jurisdictions that still have vehicle safety inspections, a setup such as you propose will flunk the car. That's why rear disc conversions intended for street use have separate mechanically-operated parking brake systems.

Thanks for the feed back. it sounded too good to be true. I have GM calipers on the rears, with no e-brake. I wonder what the easiest set up would be. I would want a hadle on the floor between the bucket seats. I know there is a drive shaft type as well. Can you point me in the right direction to read about this. I eliminated tje e-brake it because the handle on the dash was in the way of other stuff I wanted to put there. As it turns out, I could put the handle back there as I routed the AC differently. I put it above the steering column, which is where it will stay.

Lokar makes a handle that bolts to the floor like a late model if I remember correctly. You could also try to adapt a parking brake lever from a Fox Mustang (87-93).

Here you have to have an emergency brake(different from a parking brake) so the line loc wont work.

you might do a small disc shaft brake like the big mudboggers use:

Disc sandwiched between diff and driveshaft with small caliper mounted on the diff....applied with a separate M/C.

I used to drive a tow truck that had a Mico-loc . It was a hydraulic "lock" used as a parking brake. You flipped a lever on the dash....
