Finally! After two long years and 3 torque converters (this one is a 10" 3,500 stall), and a complete engine rebuild by Paul Vanderley of Vanderley Engines in Gulfport, MS, I am running four and a half seconds faster than the stock slant 225. In stock form I was running high 18's at about 71 or 72, but now, with just a few tries (surely will get better), she's running a best of 15.43 @94.3 on my G-tech. Before the latest converter she had never gone below 15.6 or above 89.9 mph. I still have some learning to do, and it's about 90 degrees here in South Louisiana, so I'm hoping for low 15's or high 14's around 96 or better. This is better performance than the new H.O. V6 Chargers and 300's, so I'm pleased. This is a street car, with street tires and only a 3.55 rear axle gear, so I'm tickled pink. thanks to Doug and Dan and everyone who have offered advice. The Dual Dutra Duals with 2 1/4 exhausts with dual turbo mufflers give a unique and impressive sound, as does the 268/272 degree Comp. cam. Be forewarned; if you use such a high profile cam you MUST have a ten inch torque converter or a 4.56 rear axle. For gas mileage, I firmly recommend the 10" converter. The Eddlebrock 500 carb isn't too shabby in my Humble Opinion, though your experiences may justify the 390 Holley, etc. Gooooo Slanterrrrssssss!!!!!

I remember Paul Vanderley. He had a strong running MP car back in the '70s, I think it was a '62 Corvette.
Now it's time to make a Slant Six Race!

Great news, Flyntgr! Keep up the good work and we'll hope to see you at a Slant race, as Cecil said. Glad to see another quick street car out there too.

Lou

I'd be glad to race somebody, but you guys are several states away. Do any of you come to Baton Rouge, LA, Hattiesburg or Gulfport, MS? I have a need for speed.

 Red Stick isn't THAT far from Houston and they'll be having a Mopar event with a Slant Six class in October. Check your calender for the "Lonestar Shootout" at Houston Raceway Park. I think there's even a link for it here someplace OR just E-mail me. RICK

I've been there, but don't have a clue how to get back there. I'll try to make that meet! Thanks for the invitation.

 It's in Baytown, on the east side of Houston. I believe there's even a sign on both sides of I-10 that tells you the exit. Thanks to Mike Miller and Miller Performance, they'll be money, geek, waupum, jingle, dead presidents, moolah etc to be won in the Slant Six class. There's no such thing as a too slow or too old or too anything Slant Six car. I'm just sorry I couldn't get mine back soon enough to finish it. RICK
