did 198s ever come with cast cranks? im thinkin no but i thought id ask people in the know

First year for cast cranks: Midyear 1976

thanks, got a motor from a 74 valient that is cast crank/ hyd. lifters and just wanted to make sure there was no possibilty of it having 198 rods (the number 6 rod bearing went) im thinking is eather a reman long block or just pulled outta a junkyard car. its grey but the head has been painted and the grey pait is coming off and showing blue underneath

Yeah, not the original engine. The engine will be stamped with it's displacement and in this case it's a 225.

That's your biggest clue rigth there. only 81+ slants were hydraulic.
