did 198s ever come with cast cranks? im thinkin no but i thought id ask people in the know |

Nope. Last year for 198s: 1974 First year for cast cranks: Midyear 1976 |

thanks, got a motor from a 74 valient that is cast crank/ hyd. lifters and just wanted to make sure there was no possibilty of it having 198 rods (the number 6 rod bearing went) im thinking is eather a reman long block or just pulled outta a junkyard car. its grey but the head has been painted and the grey pait is coming off and showing blue underneath |

Yeah, not the original engine. The engine will be stamped with it's displacement and in this case it's a 225. |

That's your biggest clue rigth there. only 81+ slants were hydraulic.
