My slant doesnt have an oil pressure gauge when stock but I am going to add one. There is a weird plug that screws into the block to the left of the oil filter, is this where the gauge tube goes? or is it in one of those plugs on the oil pump?

That plug to the left of the oil filter is the Water Drain. - No oil there.

Just run it off the oil pump where the sending unit attatches - either get rid of the unit or add a tee.

do you have a pic you can show me, because I dont have any sending unit on there. there is no provision to monitor oil pressure. do you mean the plug pointed toward the bulkhead, under the oil filter output? that would seem a logical place

Yes, the pointy thing pointing rearward and under the oil filter is the oil pressure sender that currently drives your red oil light. See this post and thread for info on a replacement sender that will drive both a gauge and a light for you.

Thanks for the info. I looked on the old oil pump and it has the dummy light sender on it. The pump on the engine now is just plugged with a flat plug. Is there an easier way to get that dual sender from the parts store, such as a certain vehicle I could tell them it came off of? Did most slant6s of '73 have the dual sender?

C'mon, dude, gimme a break once, eh? I gave you all the info you need, right down to part numbers, so there should be no need to try to make the question harder than it is, OK? Thanks.

(No, almost all slant-6 A-bodies came with only the oil pressure warning light with the sender like you have now.)

I had the parts store cross reference all numbers in that listing and all that came back was a single terminal sender like the one I already have.

I guess you will have to go to NAPA and get the sender specified.

A bit of advice when you put in a tee - don't use thin brass parts that can fatique and break off.
