Someone mentioned a late model altanator that is a 6 grove pulley and is also a direct replacement from mounting to wiring. Or was I dreaming?

I need the 6 groves for my serpentine system. I upgraded not to long ago to a dual field altanator and voltage regulator. Can I still use the upgraded wiring and regulator? Does this altanator have 3 points of contact? Bat,Field1, field2.
What model car do I tell NAPA its off?

Don't know what you want serp for but why not just swap a pulley??? I don't remember any chryslers from the 80's using a 6 rib serp I remember them all being 4 rib.

Or was I dreaming?...........there is no bolt on ...or easy swap. Super 6 has done it. He had talent, facilities and autocad on his side.

A search would reveal his detailed pictures and descriptions of this fairly complicated mod.

A good start is spelling altanator the more conventional way....alternator. It makes searches more successful.

My system has plans to leave the alternator in stock location or at least very close. Super 6's system does not do this. It also doesn't have A/C. It looks like a nice system but its not for me.
I have my system very close to being complete. Crank pulley has been made along with the idler pulleys bracket. Water pump pulley was a direct fit other than drilling 4 bolt holes in it. The alternator is all thats left. I thought that someone had mounted a late model one in the slants stock location, and it wasn't super6. This is what I may have been dreaming about, not whether or not I have that talent for such an indever.
Does the Intrepid alternator have 3 conection points? Bat, field, field or is it internaly regulated?

I use the late model intrepid (nippondenso) alternator. It is externally regulated and connects the same way as the later dual field alternator, 2 fields and one battery. Will work with the stock regulator - but you'll have to take a heavy wire direct to battery or modify stock wiring/amp gauge. No special connectors, the terminals are ordinary studs.

It will fit the stock passenger side location with minor modification to bracket - you will have to shave 1/16" give or take because the ears on the nippondenso alternator are a touch closer together then stock.

I'm fairly sure it was a 6 rib but I can't be 100% as I chucked the pulley for a v groove. kragen.com pictures show it as 6 rib - I have an intrepid in the driveway if you want me to look.

Good luck with the project - keep the plans so things can be reproduced. But yes, as others have noted a search will net you with several posts about the nippondenso alternator conversion at least a la v-groove belts.

intrepids have 6 groove pulleys.

What water pump pulley did you use? A chyrsler mini-van with a v6 has the correct alternator to use.

It's out of a 11/96 Sable GS 3.0.
There are some composit pulleys out there for the same car. This one is a steel pulley.
