I have only been to one race in LV....last year. Some guys stayed at the Super 8 near the track and some camped at the track....either way the food at the track is neither the cheapest or the best. There are literally thousands of places to eat in LV.....I went with the guys into town one night and we had smorg at a casino.

Las Vegas is an easy city to negotiate as there really isnt a specific rush hour. The race track is situated on the edge of town right off the Interstae and is almost impossible to miss. The city is laid out well and for a city is size is a snap to navigate in.

It is warm in LV in March...and can be windy!

My advice....bring your car , meet some cool folks and learn tons.Image

Sandy, you got a tipi anchor for this year?

tipi anchor...... Im hoping to be there tipiless

The plan would be to "dash"" down in the Valaint (24 driving hours)...sleep in a ditch while there.....dash back.

.....unless I get another contract in LA like last year.

so.....whats the differece between Paris Hilton and my LV accomodations? answer: where I sleep is a busy ditch.....

Budda BOOM!

My new bride sez I need to plan on makin Vegas(not sure why she thinks that.......might be she has a 3 day snowboard trip planned with the girlzzz))

That means a plethora of preparation. Right now the snow on the hood of the Valaint is as high as the roof....I cant open the doors....and it would take 2 days of shovelling to get the car to the road(we have had over 7 ft of snow this winter,,,,at one time there was over 3 ft on the ground.)

The car needs a new rear axle...the 7.25 is set to explode. Plans right now mean purchasing a Ford Explorer 8.8 with 3.73 Trac Loc and discs. The housing needs to be narrowed , driveshaft modfied and gawd knows what kind of brake mods(prolly M/C).

The buckets are too old and uncomfortable for a 24 hr drive...I might just "borrow"a leather 12 way from my Suburban .......better would be all new buckets. Mebbe Bonneville 12 ways .....

I want to lose the back seat and carpet the bulkhead. No need for 5 passenger capacity anymore.

I need to trial fit a trans blanket over the bell housing and trans.

Las Vegas is 24 hours from here ( at 80 mph).....I need to get in a 4 hour test run before leaving to make sure the car is road trip ready....and a few Power Passes out on the highway to make sure my goal of 16s at 80mph top of 3rd gear) are realistic........and I need to top end the car to ensure I can cruise at 90mph+ for hours at a time...(or take a week to get there)

Realistically this has to be a real low dollar , austere , sleep in the pits, eat out of the cooler, red squinty eye, 7 day , cathartic , Las Vegas-style epic.

Sounds like what we do every year... except we do it in 4 days, I know, we are only 600 miles away from L.V.!

Kidding aside, it will be good to see you again. Tell you what, we will take-up a collection and buy you one of those big, thick prime rib dinner plates... just for showing up!

I'll kick in for that myself. I got my reservations at the Stratosphere, and my tickets for the show. I don't plan to race but I do plan to do some heavy watching. I suppose I could run the Dakota but I'm afraid I'd break something and I need it to hold up another year. I'm looking forward to meeting some of you.
