Thats the same trans as in my car. Its called a RAP. Light, compact, shifts well and a little light for drag racing. My car makes about 200 hp and the trans seems fine. If you can live with a 7.25 rear end this box may work for you,

Post subject:  Ford 5 speed

What about the Borg Warner unit that came in the Mustangs...The 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder 5 speeds?

Considering that the Early Rangers and Mustangs both came with the 2.3 litre engines and 5 speeds I would think the transmissions are pretty close to being the same.

I have a T5 out of a Z28 Camaro and I was looking at it and thinking that it would be perfect for a Dart with a slant...Might have to enlarge a couple holes to get the bell housing to bolt to the transmission...No big deal

You can find this transmission in S-10 trucks they are plentiful and tough...The t-5 borg warner is considered tough enough for 300 horse power without problems...
