Hey everyone,
Wondering if you can help me out.
I got the intake and exhaust manifolds off today and i was wondering if i would have to replace the manifold studs and bolts? Does anyone have the part # for this or can i just pick them up at my local home depot?
Oh and one other question. The choke i got sent has this little electrical connector on it and the one i pulled off definitely does not (i assume that this is because '62 was before the age of electricity hahaha). What do i do with this? Will the choke work if i don't hook this up?
I'm working on getting an electric choke conversion kit but CarbsOnly is really not cooperating with me, and id like to get it on the road ASAP.

You can replace the studs or not. If you replace them, you run the small risk of breaking one or more old studs off with the manifolds removed and the stud holes accessible. If you don't replace them, you run the larger risk of breaking one or more old studs off with the manifolds and new gasket installed, in which case you'll have to take everything all apart and proceed as if you'd replaced them "now" anyhow.

Stud and nut selection information is here; Home Despot or Rona probably will not have these for you. Installation info is here. The choke will stay on too long without its heater hooked up, but it'll come off too quickly if you just hook it directly to key-on 12v, so just leaving it unhooked will work mostly okay as a get-by until you can get the electric choke kit. You do not have to go through CarbsOnly, see this post.

Okay guys, three more questions. First of all, I have two hose-like connections on my carb and only one hose thingy from the air cleaner; which connection do i connect the air cleaner hose to and what do i do with the other one?
And secondly, there is about a 1" gap between my kickdown linkage and my carb. Is this supposed to be there? How do i hook the linkage to my carb? I don't think I put the bracket on wrong...
Please help me out here guys I'm on the home stretch.

That hole with the "ring" around the hole should have a 2-3" long stud through it to attach your acc. cable on one side, and the kickdown slot on the other side...

Need a trip to a junk yard, these are common on slant and V-8 BBD's and also can be sometime had on Big Block Mopar Carter Thermo Quads (if your local yard has a few 400-4v cordoba's rusting away...)

Connection 1 is for the PCV hose leading to the PCV valve on your valve cover. Your Canadian-market '62 almost certainly does not have a PCV valve -- what is connected to the rear "chimney" on the valve cover? -- and so this connection would be plugged off.

Connection 2 is for emissions canister purge hose. Plug it off.

As DI mentioned, you're missing the stud and nut assembly to which the throttle cable attaches on the inside of the throttle lever, and the trans kickdown on the outside.

Note that there is a roll pin in the small hole but I don't know what it's function is. These pictures are of a BBD carb from a late 70s 318 car.

Ok, now i have only one thing left bothering me; I have like six different sized springs hanging around in the Super Six kit that was sent to me, can anyone tell me what they do and where i put them?
Here they are.

The one on the far left is your kick down return spring. The others all look like different sized throttle return springs. You are supposed to use two of them one inside another one.

Most any parts store should be able to supply springs. Usually they are universal with one hooked end and one long straight end that you cut to length and bend yourself.

Thats why I grab those springs up everytime I go to the boneyards here around Pittsburgh, never know when your going to need them. There used to be 2 great yards around this area that very few people knew about. Tons of old cars. They were there for years untill the price of scrap went up. They crushed around 10,000 cars between the two of them. What a sad day. :cry:
