I'm ready to install my new stainless steel brake lines.

I know the factory didn't do this, but should I use Teflon tape at each connection?

Waste of time?

Harmful?

Brake lines seal on flares, not on the threads. If any fluid gets to the threads in the first place something else is wrong. On new lines you may need to loosen/tighten through several cycles to get everything to seat right. The lines may require a bit of tweaking to get them at the right angles as well.

I seem to remember that Fine Lines recommends a little liquid teflon sealant on the back side of the flare and the threads on their stainless steel lines. Unfortunately, I read that after I put a whole FL set on and fought with nagging very little leaks for a long time.
