Hey Guys,
getting ready to install my Offenhauser(2x1) intake.
1. Is there any thing special I should know about, before I put it on the motor? I thought I read somewhere that I had to plug some holes on the bottom of the carb, but wasn't sure...."idle bleeds" or something? I've got two Economasters, if that makes a difference.
2. Any special thing(beside gasket) to put between the aluminum and cast iron; in the heat-box area?
Trying to get my ducks in a row, so I don't have to do this twice.......
3. Also, what size jets would be required for this setup. (Just a ball-park figure)
4. Is there an easy way to hook up the kickdown-linkage to this setup, or does anyone have pics of theirs? (I'm probably the only dunce that's tried to put this in an automatic car. )
5. One last thing, can I just cap off the large(3/8) vent tube on top, that comes off to the right side?
Thanks for all and any help,
BigBlockBanjo

Old info kinda-sorta applicable to early-production carburetors. Don't plug anything off on your Economasters.

Yeah...the gaskets that actually work! :D

I think I'd probably try starting with something like a 55.

Naw, they've gone in plenty of automatics, but remember the linkage kit 5041K is designed for the '60-'66 cars with rotating-rod throttle, not the cable type. You are going to have to do some fabrication or perhaps install a Lokar cable-type kickdown.

No, don't! That's your bowl vent. Leave it open to the atmosphere.

As for other vacuum connections: I would use "T" or "Y" fittings and pieces of hose to connect the PCV valve's outlet to the two carbs' PCV inlets, and to connect the distributor vacuum advance hose to the two carbs' vacuum advance ports.

Automatic choke setup info is here.

Thanks a million Dan! If your ever driving through West Tenn., holler and I'll buy you a Coke! :D
Those gaskets look great......might have to order one before I put everything together...
And the choke......that's just cool. 8)
Thanks again,
BBBanjo

I'll take you up on that Coke next time we're in the same town. Definitely worth your while to hold off on assembly til you can get the two gaskets from GPRS (the manifolds-to-head gasket, and the intake-to-exhaust gasket).

Kyle,

there are some pics on my website that might be helpful. this picture shows my fuel lines with T, and my vacuum line with plastic T. My fuel line is re-routed over the valve cover right now but you get the idea.

Hope that's helpful.
