I currently have 14's on the cars ralley wheel. I need to replace all 4 tires due to them being very old. If you have a good tire size for the front and the back, please let me know what size works best. This is a daily driver but would like raised white letters to make it look a lot meaner than it realy is.

Any suggestions?

I currently have XT Renegades on them now. I think P225/70R14. I could use the same size but wanted to know if a better size makes it more road smooth.

B F Goodrich has nice raised white letter tire in size you need on line tirerac.com I think. this is just me drag racer at heart 195-70-14 front and 245-60-14 rear on my 72 TWISTER!

With rallye wheels, use 205/70R14. The BFGoodrich Radial T/A is an excellent choice and is available in that size.

195s will work but there's no need to be quite that narrow.
225s are pushing it on width with those wheels.

I use this combination, it uses the same speedogear as your stock 195 tires, they have more tread patch to them so manual steering takes a bit more to get used to...but while on the road the car feels much more stable and better (not much wobble in the highway ruts like the stock sizes have...)...

I have seen a set of 215's in the rear on a '74 dart and the tires were a bit too close to the wheelwell lip for my particular margin of comfort....

I checked my tires again and I currently have 205/70R14's on them and not 225's like I mentioned in earlyier post.

Thanks to all who replied. I'll prob get them soon before I have a blow out.

70 is the width and 225 is the height just so you know 195/75/14 is what the car came with same height as 205/70/14 as stated below or above so is speedo friendly hope this helps Don

Not quite. With 205/70R14 205 is the width, 70 means the sidewall height is 70% of the width, 14" diameter wheel.

According to that chart BF Goodrich suggests minimum of 6" wide rim for anything over 205 wide tires

205-70's are a perfect size for that car. I have had everything on my car, and I do mean pretty much everything from 13's - 15's in all sizes and aspect ratios and the only thing I liked better was 205-60-15's on 15x7 cop car wheels. With your small bolt pattern, that might not be too easy to do unless you had special wheels made by, I think, Stockton Wheel. You will like the 205-70s. I did put 215-70's on my 70 Swinger, and it worked as long as I kept the stock 4.25 back spacing again on cop car wheels. When I changed offset either way, they would rub when pulling in and out of driveways, and such, when the body leaned one way or the other.

I ended up behind a guy yesterday who was driving a 72 Scamp with the original little 14"x4.5 wheels and skinny tires sitting up on brand new high arched springs. Man did that car look funny. It looked like the slightest side wind would blow it right over. It was a pleasure to see it though. It looked all original, was in excellent shape, and was that most common of colors, sort of a dark chestnut brown with a beige vinyl roof. I was in too big a hurry to chase him down and chat with him.

I had Stockton make up a set of 15x7 4 1/4 backspace small bolt chrome wheels about 10 years ago, two mistakes (both I made) was they made them reversed and I didn't check on a price thinking at that time American racing wheels were going for 40 bucks, Hold on to your computer chair,,,,,,,,,,, 860 bucks with shipping !!!!! Ya I choked on that one, but they have been on 3 different cars and held up very well (still using them) so I guess they were worth it..........

Huh, I have always had 215 70 14 on my rallyes on a 70 swinger since O bought the car 6 years ago, never had an issue.

I did up the rears on my 70 to 225, and never had problems as long as I kept the stock offset. I also went down to 60 aspect ratio with the wider tires. 225 are still pretty small compared to other performance car tires. My Corvette had 285's on the rear.

It was going to the no-standard offset that gave problems. 4.25 back spacing on a 7" wheel works well. Anything other than that, and I tried it with both less and more back spacing, and the tires would rub. I tried a set of Chrysler New Yorker wheels with a 4.5 back spacing, and the tires rubbed on the inside of the wheel well going in and out of driveways. Now with narrower wheels, I am not sure what the equivalent would be. I assume it is a proportion, and not a simple dimension that we are looking for.

Can someone tell me what the rim width and back-spacing is on stock 14" SBP Rallye rims?
I was checking out Wheel Vintique's, and of their options, it appears the 14 x 6 with 4.00" back-spacing that they offer is the item meant to replace stock rims (?)
as their only other 14" options had 7" and 8" widths...

Has anyone here purchased rims from Wheel Vintiques?
if so, any comments you could offer?

I'm looking to replace the 'poverty rims' on my '71 Swinger to facilitate a swap to disc brakes...

I have 71 Dart with front disc breaks. Is the back spacing 4.00 or 4.25??
Also, I am having my rims widened. Should I go 6" or 7" wide?

Hi, what is the off-set for the wheels on a 1971 Dart with factory front disc breaks?? I tries a wheel with a 4.00 offset and the rim wont clear the caliper.
Any heal would be appreciated.
