 Post subject: Flywheel?

just a quickie does anyone know if their is a difference between the flywheel for a cast crank and a forged crank?

No, there is not. :shock:

The cast clankers are still considered internally or neutral balanced. :D

The Mopar books list a different damper for cast and forged, but they will interchange too. :shock:

thats cool cuz I just got a bell housing off a 78 in the junk yard but I didn't grab the flywheel cuz I figured it was different but they did have a 70 I could grab one off of

Big D is correct, you can interchange any flywheel in the slant series except for the big 11" version used on HD trucks (low mount starter) and some 60's B/C body cars (police/Taxi) that used a similar HD clutch setup.

On another note, if you decide to use a truck flywheel these are a bit lighter than the car flywheels (which in every car case I've seen they have a thicker "band" around the outer edge of the wheel itself next to the starter ring)...so if you can't find a car version, you can use the truck version...(with less rotating mass...)
